I was looking for a song idea and couldn't come up with anything. I looked out the window and it was snowing. I was literally watching the snow coming down, watching it cover gray and brown. Once the lyric was complete I turned to a co-writer, Bryce Gullett, to come up with the melody and record it at his studio: Big Gulp Studios.
