Susan was born in Aberdeen Scotland to parents who were both mathematicians but who would have preferred to be musicians. As a little girl, Susan sang herself to sleep at night and wrote short piano pieces. Susan suffered a similar fate as her parents, ending up as a mathematics teacher. But she has managed to keep living her dream through her hobby of songwriting, singing, playing piano and recording music. Susan's first project was a long play album in 1975 called "Wake Up Children" containing contemporary Christian songs. After a long hiatus, she began writing prolifically again in 2001 after meeting and marrying her soul mate David Cantey. Susan's addiction to songwriting has also been fueled by her association with Jim Melko and the other writers of DayCin. Ellis Anderson, her choir director at Walnut Hills Baptist Church, has also positively influenced her writing. Susan has had some success selling her music (worldwide) at CDBaby and iTunes. She also has a few music videos on YouTube (Search for "MrsCantey"). She would love to find a young artist who could use some of her Christian and/or secular pop songs. She hopes you enjoy the songs posted at this Song Gallery. |
