One Step Closer

At the end of my vacation, headed north to Atlanta,
Bent the pedal all through Georgia till I crossed the state line,
Picked up a sub in Chattanooga; drank coffee all through Tennessee,
Flew through Kentucky…Ohio on my mind.
One step closer, one step closer to home,
I can see my baby waiting, waiting for me to come on,
One step closer, one step closer to home,
I know I never really travel alone.
When I’m looking back over bridges burned and bridges crossed,
Everything I ever learned was down on my knees,
Through the forests and the meadows, rolling down the river of life,
Every day and every night, Jesus was guiding me.
One step closer, one step closer to home,
I can see my mama waiting, waiting for me to come on,
One step closer, one step closer to home,
I know I never really travel alone.
One step closer, one step closer to home,
Everybody waiting, waiting for me to come on,
One step closer, one step closer to home,
I know I never really travel alone.
I know I never really travel alone.
