Forgiveness
by Susan Cantey
Verse 1: There's a beautiful tree down on Main Street,
A giant Santa on the square,
Thousand of gifts wrapped in silver,
Stores with sweaters on sale,
Bright colored lights in the windows,
And a hint of snow in the air,
But something inside me is unsatisfied,
So here is my focus this year:
CHORUS: Forgiveness, forgiveness,
That's why Jesus was born that first Christmas,
Health for the soul, peace for the home,
Forgiveness, forgiveness, that's what I'm giving this Christmas,
Memories will fade, and so will the day,
But every day is Christmas, when I give forgiveness away.
Verse 2: I won't just say the words without meaning,
I pray this is more than a wish,
I'll forgive Aunt Jane for her curses,
My dad for the birthdays he missed,
I'll forgive my mother for smoking,
And the doctors who couldn’t make her well,
Before I am through, and hardest to do,
I’ll forgive what I've done to myself.
