What Did Jesus Dream?

What did Jesus dream as a baby in the manger,

New born Prince of Peace, tiny Savior?

Did He dream while Mary rocked Him?

Of the Heaven He’d left?

What was Jesus dreaming as He slept?

 

Did He dream about the star shining in the night,

Feel His daddy’s arms holding Him tight?

Could He hear the shepherd’s voices; see the majesty of kings?

Sense the cattle lowing or hear the angels sing?

 

What did Jesus dream as a young man in Nazareth,

Did He ever have a single dream for Himself?

Did He dream about His Kingdom

Or of the people He would bless?

What was Jesus dreaming as He slept?

 

Was he flying through the air like an eagle in the sky,

Or sailing on the ocean with sunlight in His eyes?

Was He falling, falling down, or ever lost inside a cave?

Did He have the kind of dreams, like those of us He came to save?

What did Jesus dream the night before Gethsemane,

Did He dream of the cross or of eternity,

Did He dream His Father’s mercy

Would spare His agony?

What was Jesus dreaming, before Calvery?

 

Did He dream He was a child again running through green fields?

Or working with His wood, shavings ‘round his feet?

Could He see His mother smiling, reaching out her hand?

Was He laughing and dancing like any other man?
