The Day The Water Stopped
by Susan Cantey © 2003
Went to the kitchen to get a drink;
filthy glasses piled high in our sink.
Turned the faucet on; got nuthin’ but air;
how could it be; no water was there?
Oh No! (pa pum) What could we do? (pa pum)
Oh No! (pa pum) It couldn’t be true.
We all went into shock
The day the water stopped. (all music stops / papapa pum)
Mamma knew what was coming so she’d filled up the tub;
I was fifth in line for a very cold scrub
Saw a clothes pin on mama’s nose;
the smell from the toilet was really gross.
CHORUS
Don’t ya take it for granted
when ya turn yer water on.
Ya’d better be grateful
if yer water ru…..uns.
CHORUS
We all went into shock,
the day the water stopped.
Aeeyaeeayeeah!
