Everybody Needs a Lover

I looked out my window
One sunny day in May,
A grey haired couple was planting flowers,
Teens holding hands in the shade,
Where oh where can he be?
The man that God made for me?
Everybody craves affection,
Wants to make a real connection,
Let your hair down,
Put your feet up,
Share the same bread,
Drink from the same cup,
Someone to love you like no other,
Everybody needs a lover.
While I was reading the Sunday paper,
A letter to the editor caught my eye,
It said we all need a special person,
But that person’s hard to find,
I wrote to tell him how much I agreed,
And two days later, he wrote back to me.
(repeat chorus)
Now here we are
Looking out my window,
Let me give some advice…
If opportunity
Knocks on your door,
Never think twice, ‘cause…
(repeat chorus)
