WAKE UP CHILDREN

                                                                                    By Susan E. Cantey © 1975

(Chorus)

Wake up children.

Why are you so sleepy headed?

The Lord has something for each of us to do today.

Do you want to help Him spread His love, or in bed will you stay?

Oh why do you delay?

Why do you delay?

Carrie, little Julie Anne is very new at school.

They say she’s a nasty brat.

Why not find out and help her if it’s true.

And Johnny don’t you remember how bad it got when daddy went away to visit?  David might need an arm around him.

Say you know how it feels.

(Chorus)

Mommy worked hard to knit that yellow sweater.

Sally you love it why not tell her?

Climb into your mother’s lap.

You know she would love that.

Frankie’s parents don’t have much money.

Being poor’s not all milk and honey.

That movie down the street, Petey you could treat.

(Chorus)

Jesus taught us to love our brothers and treat others as our betters.

Does it really take so much to wash the dishes or write some letters?

Tell your brother that you love him, because your brother first loved you.

Before condemning others, try on for size their tired shoes.

(Chorus)
