» ALL OUR BRITTLE WORDS

The history of philosophy

Is a chronicle of longing

The ache to pierce the Mystery

Find some proof of our belonging

We wrestle with these thoughts and feelings

Struggle till our minds are reeling

Till exhaustion takes us

Till our limits break us

And we fall in fragile pieces to the Ground

All our brittle words come tumbling down

Aristotle and Socrates

And every philosopher since

Been playing with obscurities

Straddling the fence

Chorus Repeats

Letters do not make a man

These symbols are not what I am

Sacraments and liturgies

Only represent the Reality

That is deeper than any words can say
