Snowing
Jim Melko
There was a time
The sun dripped through the trees
The air was heavy
With the drowsy buzzing of the bees
We smiled and swirled our sweetened teas
It's snowing now
There was a time
The fan blew waves across our skin
We crashed and thundered
Drowning in
The churning of our salty sin
It's snowing now
A silent shroud of white
Blankets every feature from our sight
Sharp to soft, edge to curve
Swallowed in a chilled reserve
There was a time when green met blue
When every dawn was pearled with dew
When what we dreamed
Was what we knew
It's snowing now
