» Baby I'm Gone

Sometimes my co-writer Greg Alhammer loves to do a free association, make it up on the spot kind, of thing. From time to time at an open mic I would just be playing a groove and he'd be singing whatever came into his mind.  Well, on a particular night at the Clermont Inn. I was playing this groove and some how Greg just starting singing "Baby I'm gone" over and over again. We started harmonizing on it and the song was born. I must admit that we were probably all a little gone by then.

I let the song perculate for a while, trying to find a different twist on a leaving song.  We finally settled on leaving but not really being gone in the physical sense. This song is the result.

The final piece of the puzzle came out by accident one night playing at Mama Vita's in Loveland, Ohio.  I was singing the song and my foot slipped off the chair and I almost fell onto the floor. Too funny, I recovered trying to save grace and instead of singing the next line which was "I've got family in Dallas, just waiting for me to show up"  I couldn't resist singing "There's a barstool in Dallas, just waiting for me to fall off."  It got a big reaction and stuck.

We decided to re-cut this demo at the request of our pluggers. Demo singer Ken Johnson knocked it out of the park and Sho-biz Ro tell us it is a smash.  I guess time will tell. We are pretty happy with it at this point.  Hope you like!
