MINGLED WITH THE RAIN
By Cassandra Joy Russel
Can't sleep again tonight, thoughts of you running through my mind
Outside lightning flashes sharp and white.
Who ever said that it don't strike twice? It's hit my heart countless times
Now it's all I can do to hold back the rain.
You ain't gonna still your restless heart by making me an afterthought
Make up your mind cause I'm not sure how much more I can take.
So let it pour, let it fall,
Let it fill up the hole in my heart
Let it drown all the pain
Let it wash away all my tear stains
If it's storming where you are, my tears are mingled with the rain
I can hear the thunder rolling in like the raging storm in my head
I don't think I've ever felt so conflicted.
It shouldn't be this hard to choose between being free and being true
To the one who's done nothing but love you.
You are my priority but I'm just your option so tell me
Now, does that sound fair to you?
You'll never know how many times I cried myself to sleep
With nothing but the lullaby of rain singing softly…
